Trends in textiles are no coincidence. They are created two to three seasons ahead, in the salons of Première Vision in Paris and in the fabric labs of Como and Bursa. For brands that want to lead the way, it is crucial to recognize these developments before the masses. Here are the seven dominant textile trends that will make a difference in 2026.

1. The return of heavy natural fibers

After years of ultra-light synthetic sportswear, we are seeing a shift towards... weighty natural fibers from 300–400 g/m². Heavyweight cotton, raw linen and felted wool return. The story: quality you feel, clothing that lasts for generations.

2. Pantone Mocha Mousse and the earthy color palette

Pantone Mocha Mousse — will continue into 2026. Expect a palette around:

  • Warm earth tones — terracotta, clay skin, smoked amber
  • Moss green and olive — not hunting green, but dusty and muted
  • Ink blue — replaces classic navy as the premium base
  • Creamy white — patinated, not sterile

3. Bioplastic and algae leather

In terms of materials, we see the breakthrough of plant-based alternatives. Mirum, Mycelium leather and algae-based materials are coming out of the laboratory and reaching commercial scale. For brands that want to lead the way in sustainability: this is the season to launch the first collections made from these materials.

4. Oversized remains, but refined

The oversized silhouette has dominated for three seasons. It will be refined in 2026: not relaxed and architectural. Shoulder line slightly dropped, sleeve wider but finished, waist suggested by cut instead of belt.

5. Tactile surfaces

Smooth cotton is out, texture is in. Expected:

  • Bouclé, structured wool, felted surfaces
  • Sherpa and teddy fleece in an upscale interpretation
  • Woven jacquard patterns instead of prints
  • Crinkle finish on linen and viscose

6. Functionality disappears in the design

“Gorpcore” grows up. Technical functionality (water repellent, breathable, multipocket) is hidden in urban silhouettes. A trenchcoat with DWR coating looks like a trenchcoat, not an outdoor coat. For producers this means: more technique, the same aesthetics.

7. Slow drops and seasonless capsules

The market shift from four main collections to continuous capsule drops accelerates. For brands: smaller series, faster lead time, lower inventory risk

What this means for your 2026/2027 collection

For brands looking to translate these trends, we have three recommendations:

  1. Invest in one signature fabric which is heavy, textured and in an earthy color. Build your hero piece around that.
  2. Test bioplastics or mycelium material in one small item — an accessory, a patch. Marketing value is greater than production costs.
  3. Plan smaller drops instead of one big SS and AW collection. Keep 30% of your production budget reserved for in-season reactive drops.

We are happy to help you translate trends into concrete products — from fabric selection to pattern and first sample.
